The intervention project reflects the guidelines defined by the Secondary School Modernisation Programme and meets the new requirements of the school’s educational project, contemporary teaching/learning models and current environmental quality and energy efficiency standards.
In addition to improving the conditions of use, management and maintenance of the school, its overall space was reorganised and a new body was built. The latter not only interconnects the existing pavilions by means of a covered square but also defines the main entrance to the school and the whole front facing the street. The new building houses the auditorium/multipurpose hall and New Opportunities Centre on the upper floor and the Library and teachers’ work spaces on the lower level, making the most of the relationship with the school’s exterior spaces.
The sports pavilion/gymnasium was remodelled, with the changing/shower rooms being extended. The school’s exterior spaces and grounds were redesigned, improving conditions of access, increasing the permeable and tree-covered area and regulating parking.
