The Dr. João Araújo Correia Secondary School belongs to the third phase of school construction. The prefab-based complex was opened in 1979. The intervention included the complete remodelling of the central building and sports block, functional and constructional alterations to the three existing pavilions, which house mainly classrooms, and extension of the old workshops. The boiler building was maintained and the games field was moved slightly eastwards.
The network of sheltered walkways between the pavilions now constitutes a unifying element
The school grounds were remodelled to link the walkways connecting the different parts of the school with recreation and leisure zones.
